Judge Amy D. Hogue Judicial Profile

Judge Amy Dale Hogue received her A.B. Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Duke University in 1974, she obtained a Masters in Philosophy as a Fulbright Scholar at Cambridge University in 1975, she was a Graduate Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government in 1976, and she obtained her J.D. with honors on a Womble Scholarship from Duke University School of Law in 1979 while on the Editorial Board of the Duke Law Journal. After passing the California bar in 1979, she joined Lillick, McHose & Charles, which became Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro and then Pillsbury Winthrop, where she became senior partner. Her practice focused on media defense and intellectual property litigation. She also worked as a mediator in over 75 cases before she was appointed to the bench in 2002 by Governor Gray Davis.
