Judge Lindsey Elizabeth Martinez received her B.A. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Latin American studies and international economic relations from the University of Connecticut in 2005 during which time she was an exchange student in Brazil and Japan. She received her J.D. from George Washington University School of Law in 2010. During law school, she was a notes editor for the George Washington International Law Review, a research assistant to professors Kristen Murray and Jessica Clark, and an intern to the Honorable Emmet G. Sullivan in District of Columbia federal court. After passing the California bar in 2010, she joined Snell and Wilmer after working there as a summer associate. While in private practice, she focused her work on construction, business, franchise, and intellectual property law. She was also a member of the William P. Gray Legion Lex Inn of Court, the Orange County Bar Association, the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association, the Orange County Women Lawyers, the American Bar Association, and the William B. Bryant Inn of Court. In 2016, she joined the Fourth District Court of Appeal as a Senior Attorney, where she remained until being appointed to the bench in 2022 by Governor Gavin Newsom. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, proficient in Japanese, and is a democrat.
