Judge Michael P. Linfield Judicial Profile

Judge Michael Paul Linfield received his B.A. in philosophy cum laude from University of California, Los Angeles in 1972. After graduation, he worked as a teacher, advocate for the United Farm Workers, and deputy to West Hollywood’s Mayor. He then earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1989. After passing the California bar in 1989, he joined Alschuler, Grossman, & Pines as an associate. In 1992, he started his own practice where he represented plaintiffs in employment and consumer fraud cases. During this time he also worked as a judge pro tem and a volunteer arbitrator and mediator at the court. He was appointed to the bench in 2003 by Governor Gray Davis.
