Judge Richard James Burdge, Jr. obtained his B.S. cum laude from Yale University in 1972 and received his J.D. order of the coif from UCLA School of Law in 1979. After passing the California bar in 1979, he worked as an associate at Lillick McHose and Charles from 1979-1985 and then as a partner in 1986, a partner at Dewey Ballantine LLP from 1986-2000, a partner at Howrey LLP from 2000-2011, and then founded The Burdge Law Firm PC in 2011. His focus in private practice was business litigation. He was also the President of the Los Angeles County Bar Association from 2012-2013 and the President of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers Los Angeles Chapter. Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. appointed him to the bench in 2014.
