Originally from Pittsburgh, Judge Barbara Marie Scheper earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1982 and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. After passing the California bar in 1985, she worked in employment law at Latham and Watkins for five years before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles where she stayed for nine years. She then became an assistant inspector general for the Los Angeles Police Commission until being appointed to the bench in 2001 by Governor Gray Davis. She has served as the Ex Officio for the Litigation Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Trial Practice Inn of Court.
