Judge David Lawrence Belz received his B.S. from California State University, Fullerton in 1972 and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1975 where he also graduated from the Straus Institute for Mediating the Litigated Case. After passing the California bar in 1976, he worked as an associate, later becoming partner, at the Law Offices of Giles, Callahan, McCune, Willis & Edwards from 1976-1981. He then became a managing attorney and partner for the Law Offices of Landgren & Belz from 1981-1995. From 1995-1998, he was a sole practitioner until he joined the Law Offices of Kuhn & Belz as a partner. His work in private practice focused on representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases. He also worked as an arbitrator for the Orange County Superior Court and a mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009. He is a republican.
