Judge Dennis James Landin received his political science B.A. from Occidental College in 1977 and his J.D. from UCLA in 1980. After passing the California bar in 1980, he worked as a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Long Beach until 1982 when he joined the Federal Public Defender’s Office in the Central District of California. Starting in 1992, he was the Chief Assistant to the Federal Public Defender. He has taught at B.E. Witkin Judicial College, the Center for Judicial Education and Research of the Administrative Office of the Courts, and USC School of Law. He was appointed to the bench in 2002 by Governor Gray Davis.
