Judge Edward Burton Moreton, Jr. received his B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Utah and his J.D. from USC School of Law. After passing the California bar in 1985, he worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice until 1987 and then in 1988 he joined Riordan and McKenzie as an associate, specializing in civil litigation. In 1991 he became an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, where he remained until he was appointed to the bench in 2006 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is a republican.
