Judge Elaine Wendy Mandel received her B.A. in history/art history phi beta kappa, magna cum laude, college honors from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1989. While at UCLA for undergrad, she was on the Dean’s List, and was a Regents Scholar and Alumni Scholar. She also received her J.D. from UCLA in 1992, where she received the American Jurisprudence award in Moot Court and was named Outstanding Advocate in the Roscoe Pound Moot Court competition. After passing the California bar in 1992, she worked as an associate at Mudge, Rose, Guthrie, Alexander and Ferdon until 1993 when she joined Stolpman, Krissman, Elber, Mandel and Katzman. In 2000, she joined Kiesel, Boucher, Larson LLP, later becoming partner. Her work in private practice focused on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and class actions. She was appointed to the bench in 2009 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She is a democrat.
