Judge Elihu M. Berle obtained his B.A from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 1965, his M.B.A from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966, and his J.D. from Columbia University in 1969. After passing the California bar in 1970, he entered private practice where he specialized in commercial and business litigation. He was a State Bar Court referee from 1982-1985 and a partner at Chrystie & Berle from 1988-1996, at which time he was appointed to the bench by Governor Pete Wilson.
