Judge George Francis Bird, Jr. served in the U.S. Navy after high school, obtained his undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge, and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. After passing the California bar in 1985, he worked as a Deputy Public Defender and supervised misdemeanor deputies. He then worked as a senior associate at Jagiello & Pech from 1990-1991 and at Anderson, Ablon, Maseda, & Lewis from 1991-1993. Thereafter, he joined his wife Karen in private practice, creating the firm Bird & Bird and he became a State Bar Certified Criminal Law Specialist in 1997. He was appointed to the bench in 2015 by Governor Jerry Brown and is a republican.
