Judge Holly J. Fujie graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1975 with dual A.B. degrees in Political Science (with highest honors) and Economics (with honors). She went on obtain her J.D. from Berkeley School of Law in 1978, and was admitted to the California State Bar that same year. After passing the bar, she worked as an associate at Adams, Duque & Hazeltine from 1978-1980, at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius from 1980-1981, and Rogers & Wells from 1981-1985. She then became an associate and then an equity shareholder at Rosen, Wachtell & Gilbert from 1985-1991. Thereafter, she was an equity shareholder at Buchalter Nemer from 1991-2011, at which point she was appointed to the bench by Governor Edmond G. Brown Jr. She was re-elected in 2014 and 2020. While in private practice, she served as the President of the State Bar of California from 2008-2009, and focused her practice on complex litigation and insurance litigation. She is a democrat.
