Judge James A. Kaddo received his B.A. in political science/international relations from the University of California, Berkeley in 1956. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably discharged in 1958. He received his J.D. from the USC School of Law in 1963. After passing the California bar in 1964, he entered private practice where he focused on criminal and civil trials, real estate development and syndication, and personal injury. He was a partner at Voorhies & Kaddo until 1969 when the firm became Voorhies, Kaddo & Greene in 1971. He then opened up his own firm where he practiced until 1990 when he was appointed to the bench by Governor George Deukmejian.
