Judge John Joseph Kralik is from Cleveland, Ohio, received his A.B. with distinction from the University of Michigan in 1975, and his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law. During law school, he was an associate editor and then senior editor for research and development on the Michigan Law Review. After passing the California bar in 1979, he joined Hughes, Hubbard, and Reed where he eventually became partner. In 1993, he began working as counsel to the Atlantic Richfield Company where he remained until 2000 when he formed Kralik and Associates. The following year, he became a partner at Miller, Tokuyama, Kralik, and Sur and then joined Kralik and Jacobs in 2004. In 2009, he completed the Napa Marathon in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. While in private practice, he focused on litigation involving banking, intellectual property, real estate, and personal injury. He was a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Arbitration Association. He was appointed to the bench in 2009 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a republican, and is an author and speaker.
