Judge Jon Robert Takasugi, son of federal judge Robert M. Takasugi, received his B.A. from the University of California Santa Cruz in 1987 and his J.D. from USC School of Law in 1990. After passing the California bar in 1990, he became a deputy public defender and then a deputy alternate public defender starting in 1994. He was appointed to the bench in 2008 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and is a democrat.
