Judge Laura Ann Seigle received her A.B. in social studies through a John Harvard Scholarship and Elizabeth Cary Agassiz Scholarship, magna cum laude, phi beta kappa, and as a Detur Price recipient in 1989. She then received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1993 where she was senior editor of the Yale Law Journal and received the Judge William E. Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights. After graduation, she clerked for Ninth Circuit Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain. She then passed the California bar in 1994 and joined Irell and Manella, becoming partner in 2001. Her work in private practice focused on intellectual property and entertainment litigation. She has served as president of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the executive and governance committees of the LACBA Counsel for Justice, a member of the national executive committee of the Yale Law School Association, the board of governors of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and the board of trustees for the Los Angeles Law Library. She was appointed to the bench in 2015 by Governor Jerry Brown and is a democrat.
