Judge Lawrence Hsein-Chun Cho received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers College in 1984 and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School-Newark in 1987. After law school, he clerked for Judge Manuel Real in the Central District of California from 1987-1988, passed the New York bar in 1988, and then worked as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore from 1988-1990, during which time he also passed the California bar. Thereafter, he became an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1990-2005, serving part of that time in Washington D.C. as Deputy Chief of the Counterterrorism Section at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2003-2005. He was also an adjunct professor teaching trial advocacy at Loyola Law School from 1997-2003. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed him to the bench in 2005.
