Judge Mark Alan Borenstein received his B.A. from the University of Buffalo in 1973, his J.D. from George Washington University School of Law in 1976, and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1978. He clerked for Judge Irving Hill of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles from 1976-1977. After passing the California bar in 1978, he worked as an associate and then partner at Tuttle & Taylor from 1978-2000. He was then a partner at Shapiro, Borenstein & Dupont from 2000-2001, a partner at Overland & Borenstein from 2001-2004, and then a partner at Overland, Borenstein, Scheper & Kim from 2004-2009. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009, is a Lecturer in Law at USC Gould School of Law teaching civil procedure and advanced civil procedure, serves as a Judicial Advisor to the Civil Jury Project at NYU School of Law, and is Democrat.
