Judge Maurice Abraham Leiter received his B.A. from Harvard University and his J.D. from Georgetown University School of Law. After graduation he worked as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison from 1982-1985. He passed the California bar in 1986 and became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California. In 1991, he joined Arnold & Porter LLP, later becoming partner. He was appointed to the bench in 2015 by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. He is a democrat.
