Originally from Baltimore, Judge Michael J. Strickroth received his B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1978. After passing the California bar in 1979, he joined Parker, Stanbury, McGee, Babcock and Combs, becoming partner in 1982. He then moved to Howard, Moss, Loveder, Strickroth and Walker until 2012 when he started Strickroth and Parker, then became a sole practitioner in 2013. He then worked at Kutak Rock until he was appointed to the bench in 2016 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. His work in private practice focused on civil litigation and trials in a wide variety of areas including premises liability, products liability, governmental tort liability, discrimination, toxic tort, defamation, professional liability, trade secret and unfair competition, homeowner association/director liability, breach of contract/fraud business cases, and habitability. He has been a member of the board of directors for the American Board of Trial Advocates, Orange County Chapter, has been involved in the ABOTA Masters in Trial Program, and a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, Orange County Bar Association, and American Bar Association. He has also served as a court appointed discovery referee and an arbitrator and mediator for the Orange County Superior Court. He is a democrat.
