Judge Michelle Williams Court received her B.A. in sociology from Pomona College in 1988 and her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1993. After passing the California bar in 1993, she worked as an associate for Gilbert Kelly Crowley & Jennett from 1993-1994, a project attorney for the ACLU of Southern California from 1994-1995, a litigation associate for Litt & Marquez from 1995-1999, a community builder fellow and civil rights specialist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1999-2000, and a senior associate for Milberg LLP from 2000-2002. From 2002-2011, she worked for Bet Tzedek Legal Services, first as deputy director of litigation and then as vice president and general counsel. She was appointed to the bench in 2011 by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., and is a democrat.
