Judge Randall Jeffrey Sherman received his B.A. cum laude in mathematics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1976 and his J.D. order of the coif from University of Southern California Law School in 1979 where he was a member of the Southern California Law Review. After passing the California bar in 1979, he joined Stradling Yocca Carlson and Rauth, becoming partner in 1985 and specializing in business litigation. He stayed at that firm until he was appointed to the bench in 2005 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is a democrat. He has also been involved with the William P. Gray Legion Lex Inn of Court, California Judges Association, Orange County Bar Association, Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County, Association of Business Trial Lawyers, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and the Legion Lex Board of Directors, Orange County Chapter.
