Randolph M. Hammock

Judge Randolph Martin Hammock received his B.A. magna cum laude from San Diego State University in 1980 and his J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1983. After passing the California bar in 1984, he entered private practice in Los Angeles and became a civil trial attorney. He first worked as an associate attorney practicing insurance defense at the Law Offices of Stephen J. Dimeff from 1984-1985. He then joined Chelski, Hammock & Hedges as a general partner where he practiced civil litigation and criminal defense from 1985-1995, continuing on in this role at Hammock & Hedges. In 1996, he moved into the field of consumer law and civil rights while working at the Law Offices of Richard M. Lester until 2008. He became a volunteer Temporary Judge in Los Angeles starting in 1998. During his time in private practice, he was admitted to the bars of fourteen other states, including Indiana, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Nevada, and Tennessee. In 2008, he was appointed as a juvenile dependency court Referee, a position he held until he was elected to the bench in 2010. He is a democrat.
