Judge Thomas Anthony Delaney received his B.A. in political science and history from Loyola Marymount University in 1989, during which time he spent a semester studying European history and politics at Oxford University, and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1992. While in law school he externed for the Honorable Dickran Tevrizian, United States District Court in the Central District of California. After passing the California bar in 1992, he worked as an associate at Bodkin, McCarthy, Sargent & Smith from 1992 to 1995 when he moved to Sedgwick, Desert, Moran & Arnold, becoming partner there in 2002. He focused his private practice on defending product liability, specialty tort liability, and employment law cases. Among his reported decisions is Doe v. City of Los Angeles (2007) 42 Cal.4th 531. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. in 2014. He is a democrat.
