Judge Wendy Wen Yun Chang received her B.A. as a member of the Dean’s List from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1992 and her J.D. as the first recipient of the Justice Elwood Lui Scholarship from Loyola Law School in 1995. After passing the California bar in 1995, she worked as an associate at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman and Dicker LLP from 1996-1997, at Selman Breitman LLP from 1997-1998, at Baker, Keener and Nahra from 1998-2003, and then as a senior associate at Manatt, Phelps and Phillips LLP from 2003-2004. In 2004, she joined Hinshaw and Culbertson LLP first as an associate, and then was elevated to partner in 2008. Her focus in private practice was complex business litigation, insurance, employment defense, and legal malpractice. She was a Certified Specialist by the State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization in Legal Malpractice Law. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. in 2018, and is a democrat.
