Judge William David Claster received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1976. After passing the California bar in 1976, he joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP as an associate and then later as a partner, where he remained until he was appointed to the bench by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010. His work in private practice focused on employment litigation defense. He is a republican.
