Civil - Unlimited  Other employment Motion Hearing (Civil) 37-2021-00026829-CU-OE-CTL HU VS ZHANG [IMAGED] CAUSAL DOCUMENT/DATE FILED: Motion to Be Relieved as Counsel of Record, 02/01/2024
Before the Court is Defendant Chenliang Zhang's Motion to Be Relieved as Counsel.
The Court will hear from Defendant's Counsel on when the breakdown of the attorney-client relationship occurred and why they seek to be relieved as counsel two weeks before the Trial Readiness Conference. (Cal. Rules of Prof. Conduct Rule 1.16(d).) Defendant filed its first motion to be relieved as counsel in August 2023. The Court took the motion off calendar for failure to timely serve the motion.
(ROA 103 – Oct. 13, 2023.) It is unclear why Defendant waited until February 1, 2024, and right before the Trial Readiness Conference, to re-file. The Court will also discuss the possibility of continuing trial.
