TENTATIVE RULING

Defendant served this demurrer only by electronic service upon Plaintiff, who is a self-represented person; “Unrepresented persons are exempt from any mandatory electronic filing imposed pursuant to this subdivision.” (Civ. Proc. Code § 1010.6(f)(2).)  Pursuant to the California RUles of Court, self-represented parties or other persons "are to be served by non-electronic methods unless they affirmatively consent to electronic service."

The hearing on Defendant City of Los Angeles, erroneously named as Los Angeles Police Department, a non-suable entity’s demurrer to the Second Amended Complaint is CONTINUED to February 7, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. Defendant is to properly serve the demurrer and notice of continuance upon the self-represented Plaintiff.
