Motion for Final Approval

The court GRANTS the Motion for Final Approval of Class Action Settlement.

While the court continues to have concerns about the method of class notice, the court accepts counsel’s representation that, at this time, there is no better method of achieving a wider distribution of the Notice to the class members here. But in finally approving this settlement, the court is not indicating that it will do so regarding all future settlements regarding this category of employees.

The Administrator shall post a copy of the Final Approval Order and Judgment on its website for a period of at least sixty calendar days after its entry.

Plaintiff shall submit a copy of the Order and Judgment to the LWDA within ten calendar days after entry of the Order and Judgment.

The ROA of the declaration to which the Settlement Agreement is attached will be inserted into the Proposed Order as per the court’s usual custom. The court reminds counsel to do so in future.

Contrary to its usual custom, the court is making the modifications referenced above in the interest of efficiency to prevent another round of briefing and reconsideration by the court.

The court will sign the Proposed Order with the above changes as well as some non-substantive modifications.

A Final Accounting is set for July 26, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Department CX101.

The court does not require any physical or remote appearance at the hearing scheduled for 10/7/2022.
