There are a number of entries particularly by “former 1st year legal secretaries” who bill at $150 per hour for administrative tasks such as copying and scanning documents, forwarding emails and saving documents. In approving the fee request which is 1/3 of the GSA, the court does not implicitly approve the billing of such services as attorneys’ fees or costs. They are administrative expenses that ought to be borne by plaintiff’s counsel.

The Motion for Approval of PAGA Settlement is granted. The Status Conference is vacated.

The court will award an enhancement of $5,000 rather than the $15,000 indicated in the Proposed Order.

The court will sign the Proposed Order with the above modification to the enhancement as well as some additional non-substantive modifications.

A Final Accounting is set for July 10, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in Department CX101. Plaintiff shall submit a final report regarding distribution of the settlement funds at least 9 court days prior to the hearing.

No appearance is necessary at the hearing scheduled for 9/9/2022.
