Case Number: 24STCV05778    Hearing Date: February 26, 2025    Dept: 17

Superior Court of California

County of Los Angeles

DEPARTMENT 17

TENTATIVE RULING

JEFFREY DARNELL VALLADARES

         vs.

WEST COAST PARKING SYSTEMS, INC., et al.

 Case No.:  24STCV05778

 Hearing Date: February 26, 2025

Plaintiff’s motions to compel further discovery are MOOT. Defendant is sanctioned, jointly and severally with counsel, $700.00 per motion payable within 60 days.

On 3/7/2024, Plaintiff Jeffrey Darnell Valladares (Plaintiff) filed suit against West Coast Parking Systems, Inc. and Othmane El Falaki (collectively, Defendants), alleging negligence.

On 12/12/2024, Plaintiff moved to compel further responses from against West Coast Parking Systems, Inc. (Defendant) to his Form Interrogatories and Requests for Production.

Discussion

Plaintiff argues that Defendant’s responses are incomplete.

In opposition, Defendant indicates that it will supplement its production as to both sets of discovery. As such, the Court finds the substance of this motion to be moot.

However, the Court still finds sanctions to be appropriate. While Defendant indicates it will supplement its responses, Defendant provides no substantial justification as to why it was not able to do this in a timely manner. As such, this motion was still necessary.

Based on the foregoing, Plaintiff’s motions to compel further discovery are moot. Defendant is sanctioned, jointly and severally with counsel, $700.00 per motion. ($350/hr x 2 hr.)

It is so ordered.
