DEPARTMENT 72

TENTATIVE RULING

JUAN MORALES, et al.

                                  Plaintiff,

         v.

KIA AMERICA, INC.,

                                  Defendant.

 Case No:  23STCV24763

 Hearing Date:  August 29, 2024

 Calendar Number:  3

Plaintiffs Juan Morales and Blanca Morales (collectively, “Plaintiffs”) filed four motions to compel against Defendant Kia America, Inc. (“Defendant”).  The motions sought to compel further responses to:  (a) Form Interrogatories; (b) Request for admission; (c) Special Interrogatories; and (d) Requests for Production.

While the motions were pending, Defendant served supplemental responses.

Accordingly, the Court DENIES the motions to compel as moot.  The Court declines Plaintiffs’ request to extend their statutory deadline to make a motion to compel on the supplemental responses.

The Court GRANTS Plaintiff’s request for sanctions in the amount of $9,150.  Defendant shall pay this amount directly to Plaintiff’s counsel within 30 days.
