The Court encourages all parties to appear remotely via LA CourtConnect.  If submitting on the Court's tentative ruling, please follow the instructions provided above.

On June 12, 2024, the Court denied a motion to quash service of summons by Defendant Haresh Jogani.   The Court found that Jogani was properly served, and ordered an answer within 20 days.

On July 5, 2024, Jogani filed his answer.

Jogani now brings two motions in one—(1) a motion to quash service of summons for lack of personal jurisdiction and (2) an actual motion to dismiss for forum non conveniens.   These Motions were filed on July 2, 2024.

The Motion to Quash is denied.  The Court believes Jogani waived his argument as to lack of personal jurisdiction when he failed to include this argument in his prior denied motion to quash.  But, in any case, the Court finds specific jurisdiction over Jogani.  Jogani is a director of Defendants J.K. Properties, Inc. and J.K. Residential Services, Inc., which are also associated with Defendant 7520 S. Broadway, LLC., and the Complaint relates to his habitability-related actions in conducting these companies.

Further, the Motion to Dismiss has been improperly included with the Motion to Quash.  The Court’s reservation system does not allow for bundled motions.  Thus, the Motion to Dismiss is placed off calendar because it was improperly reserved and scheduled.

Moving party to give notice.
