Plaintiffs’ motion to consolidate for all purposes civil case no. 23STCV05212 and unlawful detainer case 23VEUD00404.

GRANTED on grounds set forth in the moving papers.  It makes sense to consolidate the two cases, since issues raised by defendants’ answer in the unlawful detainer case are present in plaintiffs’ unlimited civil action.  The cases are consolidated for all purposes, including trial.

Further events in the unlimited civil action are a status conference, set for June 15, 2023, and a case management conference, set for July 11, 2023.  The unlawful detainer case is stayed pending resolution of the unlimited civil case.  Perhaps it would be best to set a trial date for the consolidated trial, since unlawful detainer cases are supposed to be tried with some expedition.  Counsel should discuss this point before the hearing and inform the court of any preferences.
