On September 25, 2024, Defendant Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority electronically served the first set of form and special interrogatories upon Plaintiff. To date, Plaintiff has failed to serve responses. Defendant now moves the Court to compel initial responses. Plaintiff did not file an opposition or any other document indicating to the Court that responses had been served prior to the hearing. The motion is GRANTED.

Plaintiff is ordered to serve complete and verified responses to Defendant Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s special interrogatories, set one, and form interrogatories, set one, within 20 days of today.

Defendant requests sanctions in the amount of $2,350. Sanctions are mandatory, and the Court does not find that Plaintiff acted with substantial justification. However, the Court finds the requested amount excessive and reduces the sanctions to $1,000, imposed against Plaintiff and his counsel jointly and severally, payable to Defendant within 20 days of today.
