This sexual misconduct action was filed on August 1, 2022. Trial is scheduled to begin on May 12, 2025. Plaintiff M.G. (Plaintiff) now applies ex parte to continue the trial date by 30 days. Plaintiff argues good cause exists because the main-handling attorney on this matter left the firm on April 1, 2025, and the replacement attorney began at the firm on March 24, 2025. Plaintiff’s lead trial attorney also has a trial on another matter scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025. Plaintiff also indicates that no expert depositions have been taken yet.

Plaintiff’s ex parte application to continue the trial date is GRANTED pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 3.1332(c)(3) – “the unavailability of trial counsel because of…other excusable circumstances.” A 30-day trial continuance is reasonable. The Court will confer with the parties to select a new trial date. The discovery cut-off date and related deadlines will correspond with the new trial date. Moving party to give notice.
