This is a personal injury action.  Counsel for Defendant Skin First, Inc.’s ex parte application to shorten time/advance the Motion to Be Relieved as Counsel is GRANTED.  Trial is currently scheduled for September 11, 2024.  The motion is currently scheduled for hearing on March 18, 2025.  On August 8, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in Dept. SE-F, there is an OSC re: as to why sanctions should not be imposed against defense counsel for their failure to appear on June 6, 2024 (for a Mandatory Settlement Conference)/why the answer of defendant should not be stricken for defense counsel’s failure to appear on June 6, 2024.  The Motion to be Relieved as Counsel is ADVANCED to this date and CONTINUED to August 13, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in Dept. C.  The ex parte application is not deemed to be the moving papers.  Defense Counsel is ordered to file and serve a properly noticed motion in compliance with Cal. Rule of Court, Rule 3.1362 within the time period specified in CCP § 1005, subd. (b).  Opposition and Reply papers to be filed and served in compliance with the new hearing date.  Moving party to give notice.
