Having considered the moving papers, the Court rules as follows. 

BACKGROUND 

On January 31, 2022, Plaintiff Iris Alcala (“Plaintiff”) filed this action against Defendants Super Center Concepts, Inc., Superior Grocers, Inc., and Does 1-50 for general negligence and premises liability. 

On September 2, 2022, Defendant Super Center Concepts, Inc. dba Superior Grocers (“Defendant”) filed an answer. 

On January 11, 2024, Defendant filed a motion to bifurcate to be heard on February 5, 2024. 

Trial is currently scheduled for June 24, 2024. 

PARTY’S REQUEST 

Defendant requests that the Court bifurcate trial of the issues of liability and damages. 

DISCUSSION 

The Court continues the motion to the trial date.  The Court that conducts the trial will consider the motion. 

CONCLUSION 

The Court CONTINUES Defendant Super Center Concepts, Inc. dba Superior Grocers’ motion to bifurcate to June 24, 2024. 

Moving party is ordered to give notice of this ruling. 

Moving party is ordered to file the proof of service of this ruling with the Court within five days.
