Having considered the petitioning papers, the Court rules as follows. 

BACKGROUND 

On August 26, 2022, Plaintiffs Omar Eduardo Coreas and Christopher Eduardo Coreas, a minor by and through his guardian ad litem Omar Eduardo Corea [sic], filed this action against Defendants Anthony Wright (“Wright”) and Does 1-25 for negligence. 

On September 6, 2022, the Court appointed Omar Eduardo Coreas to serve as Plaintiff Christopher Eduardo Coreas’s guardian ad litem. 

On November 14, 2022, Plaintiffs amended the complaint to add Defendant Patricia Tillman (“Tillman”) as Doe 1. 

On January 3, 2023, Wright and Tillman filed an answer. 

On February 5, 2024, Plaintiffs filed a notice of settlement. 

On August 12, 2024, Petitioner Omar Eduardo Coreas (“Petitioner”) filed a petition for expedited approval of the compromise of minor Plaintiff Christopher Eduardo Coreas’s claims. 

PETITIONER’S REQUEST 

Petitioner asks the Court for expedited approval of the compromise of the pending action of minor Plaintiff Christopher Eduardo Coreas. 

DISCUSSION 

The petition contains the following information: 

Gross settlement amount:                    $9,500.00

Total medical expenses:                       $3,715.30

Medical expenses paid:                        $11.64

Reductions:                                          $3,006.57

To be paid etc. from proceeds:             $708.73

Liens:                                                   $708.73

Attorney’s fees:                                   $2,375.00

Costs:                               $435.00

Net balance:                     $5,981.27 

Petitioner has submitted a complete petition with all required information.  The Court grants the petition and orders Petitioner to deposit the net settlement amount of $5,981.27 in insured accounts in Bank of America, 5931 Pacific Blvd., Huntington Park, CA 90255, subject to withdrawal only on authorization of the Court. 

CONCLUSION 

The Court GRANTS the petition for expedited approval of the compromise of minor Plaintiff Christopher Eduardo Coreas’s action filed by Petitioner Omar Eduardo Coreas on August 12, 2024.  Petitioner is to deposit the net proceeds of $5,981.27 in insured accounts in Bank of America, 5931 Pacific Blvd., Huntington Park, CA 90255, subject to withdrawal only on authorization of the Court. 

The Court sets an OSC Re: Distribution of Net Settlement on January 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., in Department 28 of the Spring Street Courthouse. 

The Court sets an OSC Re: Dismissal of Case (Settlement) on January 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., in Department 28 of the Spring Street Courthouse. 

Petitioner is ordered to give notice of this ruling. 

Petitioner is ordered to file the proof of service of this ruling with the Court within five days.
