Final Accounting

RULING:

The total amount to be distributed to 949 Class Members was $304,691.89. The Administrator mailed checks to each Class Member, Class Counsel, Class Representative, the LWDA, and the Administrator on May 16, 2022. The check-cashing period expired on November 12, 2022. As of December 29, 2022, three hundred and seventy-two (372) checks totaling $91,045.79 remain uncashed. No funds have been sent to Legal Aid at Work.

The Court is concerned that approximately 1/3 of the Class Members have not claimed $91,045.79 of the funds. Therefore, the Court continues this matter to April 14, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Dept. CX103 for Class Counsel (or the Administrator) to file a supplemental declaration regarding efforts to contact and/or remind the remaining 372 Class Members regarding the uncashed checks. This is the first hearing date available on the Court’s calendar. Any supplemental material must be filed at least nine (9) court days prior to the hearing. Class Counsel is also ordered to lodge a Word version of the Second Amended Order of Final Approval for minor revision by the Court.
