TENTATIVE RULING Plaintiff Kareem Coles' unopposed motion for preliminary approval of class action and PAGA settlement is GRANTED as set forth below.

Coles shall revise paragraph 5 of the proposed order to clarify that the Class Counsel Award (up to $675,000) includes both attorney fees and costs, as set forth in the motion and settlement agreement.

As currently written, the proposed order indicates that litigation expenses (up to $25,000) may be awarded on top of that amount.

Coles shall also revise the class definition in paragraph 6 of the proposed order, which indicates that the class period is 'October 2, 2020 through November 15, 2023.' Section I.J. of the settlement defines 'Class Period' as 'the period beginning October 2, 2020 through November 15, 2023, or the date of preliminary approval of the settlement, whichever occurs first.' As it is not yet November 15, 2023, the class period should end as of the date of this approval (i.e., October 20, 2023).

Coles is directed to bring a physical copy of the revised proposed order to the hearing. The Court will sign the proposed order as revised.

The Court sets a final approval hearing for March 22, 2023 at 10:30am.

The motion for final approval shall include sufficient information and documentation to enable a lodestar cross-check, substantiate all costs claimed, and support the requested service award.
