ATAKAN AKOGLU, AN INDIVIDUAL vs UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, INC., A DELAWARE CORPORATION, et al.
21STCV28723
Motion for Leave to File Cross Complaint

Ruling:  Granted.  Defendant Universal Music Group has 20 days to file its cross-complaint.  Moving party to give notice.
Note:  Court signed proposed order with modifications.

Rationale:
Universal’s Cross-Complaint is compulsory because it arises from the same injuries alleged in Plaintiff’s Complaint. Universal does not explain the delay in filing this Cross-Complaint just three months before trial. Nevertheless, considering public policy favoring liberal construction of Code Civ. Pro. section 426.50, Universal’s motion is granted. Universal properly filed a proposed cross-complaint as Exhibit A. No parties opposed this motion.
