RELIEF REQUESTED: An order compelling Plaintiff Sherine Hanna to provide responses to Defendant  J.C.I.’s Form Interrogatories, Set 1, within 10 days after the entry of the order granting this motion.  Additionally, J.C.I. requests sanctions against Plaintiff and Plaintiff’s counsel, Karimian Law Group, in the amount of $1,497.50.

RULING: The motion is granted as set forth below. 

On 3/28/23, Defendant J.C.I. Construction, Inc. (J.C.I.) served Form Interrogatories, Set 1, on Plaintiff making responses due on 5/2/23.  (Gaines Decl., Ex.1).  On 4/26/23, J.C.I. granted Plaintiff a 60-day extension to respond to the discovery.  Id.  Plaintiff failed to provide responses.  Id.  After further meet and confer efforts between counsel for the parties, Plaintiff still failed to provide responses to the discovery.  Id.

Due to Plaintiff’s failure to provide timely responses to the subject document requests, J.C.I. is entitled to an order compelling responses without objections.  CCP 2030.290(a), (b).  Additionally, Defendant is entitled to sanctions against Plaintiff and her attorney for their failure to comply with their discovery obligations.  CCP 2023.030(a); CCP 2030.290(c).  J.C.I. is awarded $922.50 in sanctions for 1 hour to prepare the motion + ½ hour to prepare for and appear at the hearing at $575/hour + $60 filing fee.

CONCLUSION

The motion is granted.  Responses are due and sanctions are payable within 15 days.
