[TENTATIVE] ORDER CONTINUING THE HEARING FOR PETITION FOR CHANGE OF NAME

Petitioner, Blaze Legend Jones, a minor, filed this Petition on June 3, 2022, for an Order for Change of Name to Blaze Legend Toomes in order to assume mother’s last name.  While the other parent did not sign the Petition, Petitioner personally served the other parent with the Order to Show Cause, in compliance with Code of Civil Procedure section 1277(a)(4). The court’s docket reflects that no objections to the Petition have been filed.

However, the court’s file does not reflect that Petitioner complied with the requirements for publication of the Order to Show Cause. Code Civ. Proc., § 1277 subd. (a)(2)(A). Accordingly, the court continues the hearing to October 18, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. in Department A of the Compton Courthouse. Petitioner is ordered to publish the Order to Show Cause for the required time period before the continued hearing date. Code Civ. Proc., § 1277 subd. (a)(3).
