The Court excuses the personal appearance of Claimant and the guardian ad litem. Counsel may appear by telephone or video conference call.¿ 

Plaintiff/Claimant Mia Castagna (“Claimant”) has agreed to settle her claims against Defendants for the total amount of $2,000,000. If the settlement is approved, $35,714.16 will be used for medical expenses, $356,102.06 will be used for attorneys’ fees, and $103,763.98 will be used for costs.  The net balance of $1,504,419.80 will be apportioned as follows: (1) $4,419.80 will be deposited into a blocked account, and (2) the remaining $1,500,000 will be invested in three single-premium deferred annuities.  

The Court reviews the settlement and finds it fair and reasonable.¿The Court also finds the attorney’s fees fair and reasonable, in that it amounts to, cumulatively, 17.80% of Claimant’s settlement. Based on the foregoing, the petition is GRANTED. 

The Court sets an OSC Re: Proof of Deposit on ___________________in Department SS-31 at 8:30 AM. No appearance required if receipt is filed in advance.
