The Court excuses the personal appearance of Claimants and the guardian ad litem. Counsel may appear by telephone or video conference call.¿
This matter arises from a wrongful death claim. Plaintiffs have agreed to settle their claims against Defendant for the policy limits of $30,000, with $5,000 being apportioned to each minor Claimant, namely Jordan Williamson, Justin Williamson, and Jasmine Williamson (collectively, “Claimants”).
If the settlement is approved, $80.27 for costs and $1,250 for attorneys’ fees will be deducted from each of Claimants’ individual $5,000 apportionment. The net balance of $3,669.73 for each Claimant will be deposited into a blocked account.
The Court reviews the settlement and finds it fair and reasonable.¿The Court also finds the attorney’s fees fair and reasonable, in that it amounts to 25% of Claimants’ settlement. The petitions filed on January 9, 2024 are GRANTED.
The Court sets an OSC Re Proof of Deposit on ___________________in Department SS-31 at 8:30 AM. No appearance required if receipt is filed in advance.
