Petitioner Coast Law Group, LLP's petition to confirm arbitration award (ROA # 1 and 29) is granted.

On May 4, 2023, petitioner initiated this action by filing a petition to compel arbitration award. ROA # 1.

The parties arbitrated their dispute through the San Diego County Bar Association's Mandatory Fee Arbitration Committee. The arbitrator, Joni Halpern, entered an award of $30,293.78 against respondent Tonya O'Dell on March 19, 2023.

Petitioner moves to confirm the arbitration award.

Under CCP § 1285.4 a petition must have (1) a copy of the agreement to arbitrate, or the substance of the agreement to arbitrate; (2) the name(s) of the arbitrator(s); and (3) a copy of the award and written opinion of the arbitrators. The petition here complies with these requirements. See Petition, Exhibit 6(c).

It appears that the arbitration award was duly entered. The court is unaware of any basis for refusing to confirm the award.

Therefore, the arbitration award is confirmed. The court will enter judgment in favor of petitioner and against respondent, Tonya O'Dell, in the amount of $30,293.78 in addition to prejudgment interest in the amount of $2,141.40 and costs in the amount of $699.46.

This is the tentative ruling for an appearance (in person or remote) hearing at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023. If no party appears at the hearing, this tentative ruling will become the order of the court as of December 1, 2023. If the parties are satisfied with the court's tentative ruling or do not otherwise wish to argue the motion, they are encouraged to give notice to the court and each other of their intention not to appear, though this notice is not required.
