On September 23, 2020, the California Department of Public Health and Bureau of Cannabis Control filed a complaint for civil penalties. Plaintiff alleges Defendants engaged in unlicensed commercial cannabis activities in the cities of Gardena and Canoga Park. On March 1, 2021, Defendants answered the complaint.

 

RULING: Granted

Plaintiff California Department of Public Health and Bureau of Cannabis Control moves to compel responses to Request for Production of Documents (set one) from Defendant Arutyn Barsamyan.

 

Plaintiff served Defendant on January 31, 2022. [Declaration of Ethan Turner, ¶ 2, Ex. 1-2.] Counsel promised responses. No responses were delivered, even after extensions. [Id., ¶¶ 3-7.]

 

The unopposed motion is granted. Defendant Arutyn Barsamyan is ordered to serve verified responses to request for production of documents without objections within ten days. (Code Civ. Proc., § 2031.300, subd. (a-b).)

 

Sanctions in the amount of $250 joint and severally against Arutyn Barsamyan and counsel of record for Arutyn Barsamyan. (Code Civ. Proc., § 2031.300, subd. (c).) Payable within 30 days.

 

Motion to compel set for August 19, 2022.
