Plaintiffs have five different discovery motions on today’s calendar. Each will be addressed in turn below.
Motion 1
Plaintiff Ruzhen He’s Motion to Compel Defendant Yong Han’s Responses to Requests for Production, Set One, and Demand for Monetary Sanctions, is GRANTED.
Defendant Han is ordered to serve verified, full and complete responses, without objection, to the Requests for Production within 15 days of the date of service of written notice of the court’s ruling.
The court grants Plaintiff’s request for monetary sanctions against Defendant Han in the amount of $410 to be paid within 30 days of notice of the court’s ruling. Payment shall be made to Plaintiff He through Plaintiff’s counsel of record.
Plaintiff shall give notice.
Motion 2
Plaintiff Ruzhen He’s Motion to Compel Defendant Feijuan Xiong’s Responses to Requests for Production, Set One, and Demand for Monetary Sanctions, is GRANTED.
Defendant Xiong is ordered to serve verified, full and complete responses, without objection, to the Requests for Production within 15 days of the date of service of written notice of the court’s ruling.
The court grants Plaintiff’s request for monetary sanctions against Defendant Xiong in the amount of $410 to be paid within 30 days of notice of the court’s ruling. Payment shall be made to Plaintiff He through Plaintiff’s counsel of record.
Plaintiff shall give notice.
Motion 3
Plaintiff Ruzhen He’s Motion to Deem Requests for Admissions Admitted, Set One, served on Defendant Feijuan Xiong is GRANTED.
Unless Defendant XIONG serves Code-compliant responses to Plaintiff’s first set of requests for admissions before this hearing, the truth of the matters specified in the requests for admissions, set one, are deemed admitted. [CCP § 2033.280. (c) [the court shall deem the matters admitted “unless it finds that the party to whom the requests for admission have been directed has served, before the hearing on the motion, a proposed response to the requests for admission that is in substantial compliance with Section 2033.220”]; [see also St. Mary v. Superior Court (2014) 223 Cal.App.4th 762, 782 [actual compliance not required where the proposed response is facially a good-faith effort to respond to requests for admission in a manner that is substantially code-compliant]

Motion 4
Plaintiffs Jinmin Lian, Aijuan Wang and Ruzhen He’s (“Planitiffs”) Motion to Compel Deposition of Defendant Yong Han is GRANTED.
Defendant Han is ordered to sit for deposition on August 16, 2023, commencing at 10:00 a.m. The deposition shall be conducted at the Ardent Law Group, 4340 Von Karman Avenue, Suite 290, Newport Beach, California 92660. The parties can modify the date and location of the deposition upon written agreement entered before August 16, 2023.
The court grants Plaintiffs’ request for monetary sanctions against Defendant Han in the amount of $410 to be paid within 30 days of notice of the court’s ruling. Payment shall be made to Plaintiffs through Plaintiffs’ counsel of record.
